We also are served by Wheaton College graduate student intern Kara Sappington.  Lay leadership includes a 10 member Governing Board of Elders who are nominated and elected by members of the congregation at annual May  meetings. The Elders, representing both young and older adult members of our community, take active roles in congregational leadership, education, benevolence and prayer ministry.</p>

<p><strong>Worship Style and Attendance</strong></p>

<p>LBC Sunday morning worship components include corporate prayer, congregational singing,  offertory, scripture reading  and preaching.  Music at LBC reflects a moderate, blended, contemporary style of worship that includes combinations of guitar, electric guitar, bass, piano, drums and vocals. Projected graphics often support both music and preaching. Other elements present in worship include videos,  special music presentations and open-mic testimonials.</p>

<p>Communion services occur monthly. In recent years the  congregation proceeds to the altar to receive communion elements, then returns to their  seats where they partake  in unison.</p>

<li><strong><span style="font-size: medium;">1944 </span></strong> Church purchases a store and empty lot at 111 S. Park Ave. (current location).</li>
<li><span style="font-size: medium;"><strong>1949</strong></span>   Pastor Mark Lee introduces LBC to the Christian and Missionary Alliance.</li>
<li><strong><span style="font-size: medium;">2002</span></strong>   Pastor Steve Hammer (Beth) becomes the Senior Pastor.</li>
<li><strong><span style="font-size: medium;">2002  </span></strong> Youth pastor, Bruce Sperling joins the staff.</li>
<li><strong><span style="font-size: medium;">2004  </span></strong>Worship Pastor, Stu Heiss (Laurel) joins the staff.</li>
<li><strong><span style="font-size: medium;">2005  </span></strong>LBC cooperates with Elmhurst Hospital in their health center on Main Street resulting in shared use of large parking lots. LBC has use of that space on Sundays and evenings,   and the hospital takes care of maintenance.</li>
<li><strong><span style="font-size: medium;">2006 </span></strong>Tragically, Bruce and his brother died in a drowning accident  on May 27, 2006 while attempting to rescue a stranger. This was a very  difficult time for the whole church.</li>
<li><strong><span style="font-size: medium;">2007</span></strong>  Youth Pastor Josh Garber (Jodie) joins the staff.</li>
<li><strong><span style="font-size: medium;">2011  </span></strong>Pastor Hammer takes a position with the C&amp;MA District Office in  Minnesota.</li>
