LBC supports missionaries both directly and through the Christian and Missionary Alliance Great Commission Fund as well as supporting individuals not associated with the C&MA in Brazil, Ethiopia,  Kyrgyzstan, Russia and elsewhere.

Each year LBC participates in a week of missions-related activities  which include a banquet, C&MA missionary speakers, youth activities  and video presentations.

We also are served by Wheaton College graduate student intern Kara Sappington.  Lay leadership includes a 10 member Governing Board of Elders who are nominated and elected by members of the congregation at annual May  meetings. The Elders, representing both young and older adult members of our community, take active roles in congregational leadership, education, benevolence and prayer ministry.

Join us at 9:00am for Discipleship Hour and 10:30am for our corporate worship service.

Classes change quarterly, current classes include:

  • Study in Romans
  • Life Together at LBC
  • Beth Moore’s “Breaking Free: Making Liberty in Christ a Reality in Your Life” for women
  • Beginning March 18th: They Like Jesus But Not the Church High School and Adults
  • 6th-8th Grade Discipleship
  • Nursery-5th Grade Sunday School

10:30-11:30AM  Worship gathering in the sanctuary for an hour of worship including music, Scripture readings, prayer and biblical teaching. Children four years and older will participate in the service.  Childcare is available in our nursery for children, infants – 3 years of age.

Worship Style and Attendance

LBC Sunday morning worship components include corporate prayer, congregational singing,  offertory, scripture reading  and preaching.  Music at LBC reflects a moderate, blended, contemporary style of worship that includes combinations of guitar, electric guitar, bass, piano, drums and vocals. Projected graphics often support both music and preaching. Other elements present in worship include videos,  special music presentations and open-mic testimonials.

Communion services occur monthly. In recent years the  congregation proceeds to the altar to receive communion elements, then returns to their  seats where they partake  in unison.

Lombard Bible Church (LBC) is a vibrant, healthy, 76 year old congregation located in Lombard, Illinois. We are proud members of the Midwest District of the Christian and Missionary Alliance with a history of church planting, nurturing and sending missionaries, supporting C&MA missionary projects world wide and with a renewed focus on discipleship and family ministry.

Church History, 1935 – 2011

  • 1933   First group of believers meet for weekly Bible classes at the  home of Wilbur Kletts in Lombard.
  • 1935   First services held in basement of the Ballou Building, 217 S  Main Street in Lombard.
  • 1935  Church moves to a new location at 9 N. Main Street, Masonic  Hall second floor.
  • 1944  Church purchases a store and empty lot at 111 S. Park Ave. (current location).
  • 1949   Pastor Mark Lee introduces LBC to the Christian and Missionary Alliance.
  • 2002   Pastor Steve Hammer (Beth) becomes the Senior Pastor.
  • 2002   Youth pastor, Bruce Sperling joins the staff.
  • 2004  Worship Pastor, Stu Heiss (Laurel) joins the staff.
  • 2005  LBC cooperates with Elmhurst Hospital in their health center on Main Street resulting in shared use of large parking lots. LBC has use of that space on Sundays and evenings,   and the hospital takes care of maintenance.
  • 2006 Tragically, Bruce and his brother died in a drowning accident  on May 27, 2006 while attempting to rescue a stranger. This was a very  difficult time for the whole church.
  • 2007  Youth Pastor Josh Garber (Jodie) joins the staff.
  • 2011  Pastor Hammer takes a position with the C&MA District Office in  Minnesota.
